Labour Asians Society Participates in the East Midlands Labour Conference

Labour Asians Society proudly supported and actively participated in the remarkable East Midlands Labour Conference held in Leicester. The event witnessed an outstanding turnout, providing an excellent platform to meet and network with Labour Party members, MPs, Lords, Mayors, and Cabinet Ministers.

The conference was honoured to host the Rt. Hon. Rachel Reeves, the first female Chancellor of Great Britain, as the keynote speaker. During her address, Rachel Reeves emphasized that Labour is already making a difference and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to delivering on its promises.

Labour Party Secretary General Holli Ridley highlighted the need to secure more victories across the country to ensure Labour continues to deliver on its commitments. She called for unity and hard work to strengthen the Labour Party both nationally and within all communities.During the event, Holli Ridley visited the Labour Asians Society (LAS) stand, where she engaged with the LAS team. She expressed enthusiasm about working together to enhance Labour’s engagement with British Asian communities.

The conference also featured addresses from several key Labour figures, including:

  • Hon. Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy, Security & Net Zero
  • Hon. Liz Kendall, Secretary of State for Work & Pensions
  • Hon. Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health
  • Heidi Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport
  • Ellie Reeves, Chairperson of the Labour Party
  • Baggy Shankar MP. Patron Labour Asians Society

These distinguished speakers addressed crucial issues affecting the public and outlined Labour’s ongoing efforts to resolve them, demonstrating the party’s dedication to delivering on its commitments.

Labour Asians Society also had the opportunity to contribute to the conference. LAS Vice President Hanif Khan reaffirmed the society’s unwavering support for the Labour Party, its Leader, Prime Minister, and the government.
